In May 2020 we lived in São Paulo. We had an established life, both of us working, with friends who became family and Leyre very adapted and focused on her life in one of the largest cities in the world.
We were in the middle of a pandemic and in Lock Down so we were from Home Office. I still have in my head the image of Paulo walking into my “office” with a look of disbelief.
At that moment I thought of the worst… but no… after all, it was good news “I have been offered to run the company in the United States”. The first thing that came to my mind (and my mouth) was a NO!!!!
We were very well, a comfortable life. Why change again? I imagine that he did not expect that reaction and he remained thoughtful and said… "When Leyre finishes classes we will ask her" In our family we take everyone's opinion into consideration and in this case more so because it was a big change again.
I thought "ummm she will be my ally and she will say no…." WELL NO! When we told her about it, she thought for a moment and asked, “Where would it be? Silicon Valley we said. "And when?" we are going to wait for you to finish the IGCSE (a cycle of the British System of studies). She reflected for 1 or 2 seconds and said. "I would only have to do Junior and Senior there. Total, two more years and I would go to the University" Just one more question..." Is it a good opportunity for Paulo?"... once again this little person surprised us with his way to see life.
The decision was made. We begin to plan and think about the steps to follow.
Paulo would have to leave in October 2020 and the three of us (Leyre, Mac and I) would stay until July 2021 until the end of the school year and take the exams in Brazil.
Luckily we had the freedom to choose any place in the San Francisco Bay to live, and the choice of the area to live would depend on the school. In this the company has always supported us and facilitated things. In the United States, a school is assigned based on where you live. Therefore, the first thing was to look for the school.
First searches on the Internet... looking at various pages, opinions. About High School since it was the cycle Leyre entered.
Since Leyre is very responsible and studious, she wanted the best school. Where she studied in São Paulo, she had very high standards. Searching and investigating, Palo Alto always came out as the place where the schools had the best Rankings. So decision made. This is why we chose to live in Palo Alto out of all the cities in Silicon Valley. THE SCHOOL
